In a strange case of its own kind, relatives of a 70-year-old man named Balasubramaniya Kumar kept him in a freezer for over 20 hours under the assumption that he has died. The incident took place on Wednesday in Salem, Tamil Nadu.
Instead of taking the elderly man to a doctor or hospital, his family lodged him inside a freezer meant for dead bodies. The police suspect that the family of the elderly man is mentally unstable. Balasubramaniya stays with his brother Sarvanan and other family members in Old Housing Board, Kandampatty.
On being questioned about the reason for putting the man inside the freezer, the family members said they suspected that he would die within 2 hours.
Vendors informed the police
On Monday, the family of the 70-year-old man called a freezer box company and asked them to deliver a box meant for dead bodies. At around 4 pm, a man delivered the box at the residence and told the family that he would take it back on Tuesday.
When the vendors returned on Tuesday evening, they noticed that the ‘body’ kept inside the box was moving and they called the police. An ambulance was also called to the spot and the man was taken to a hospital. The man is said to be in a stable condition.
