Job opportunity to multiply as Food delivery companies plan to expand beyond metros

Approximately 560,000 people are likely to be part of online food delivery by March 31 next year, compared to about 500,000 currently, according to market research and advisory firm RedSeer. The number has grown from 25,000 in 2016 to 2,50,000 in 2018 and are at double those levels currently.

Unresolved issues between restaurants and online food delivery aggregators will also not impact hiring, as restaurants are heavily dependent on food tech players.“The entry of Amazon will create more jobs, and it is expected that players like Swiggy and Zomato will increase hiring to maintain their position,” said Yeshab Giri, vice president – RT and specialties, Randstad India.

Food tech has been growing at about 150% over the last four years, and is expected to hit a pace of 200% in 2019, according to RedSeer.
