First Flight with Expatriates from UAE to India on May 7


Ending weeks of uncertainty over the return of Indian citizens stranded in other countries, the concerned Authorities have confirmed that the first two flight services bringing expatriates home would be from  Abu Dhabi to Kochi and from Dubai to Kozhikode. Pregnant women, senior citizens, people who want to return for emergency needs and those with medical conditions will be given priority. Only those who have registered themselves online will be given the chance to board the flights.

Embassy authorities informed that the tickets will be given by the Air India Express offices based on the list handed over by the High Commissioner’s office. These tickets will not be available online or via travel agencies. Meanwhile, the average rate of ticket from Abu Dhabi to Kochi is Rs. 13,000. Authorities have said that COVID-19 tests will be done on the passengers after confirmation is issued on the travel.

On reaching the destination, everyone would have to register on the Arogya Setu app, India’s mobile application for health surveillance. Everyone would be medically screened after reaching their destination as well.
