Oru Kuralaai: 80 singers including Kamal Haasan, AR Rahman join hands for fundraiser concert

Kamal Haasan, AR Rahman and nearly 80 singers including Srinivas and Sujatha have joined hands for an online concert titled Oru Kuralaai. The concert will be live-streamed on Facebook today (September 12) at 6 pm for six hours. The aim behind this concert is to raise funds for the artists who have lost their livelihood because of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Singer Srinivas had established USCT (United Singers Charitable Trust), which is a non-profit organisation aimed to help struggling musicians. The NGO has musicians Unnikrishnan, Sujata Mohan, Rahul Nambiar, Ranjith Govind, Haricharan and Saindhavi as trustees.

It is Srinivas’s organisation that has put together Oru Kuralaai in association with an event and talent management company. Nearly 80 artists including Rahman and Kamal Haasan have participated in it.

Popular singers Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal and several others will be performing for the audience in this Tamil concert which will go on for six hours on Facebook. Apart from performing, Kamal Haasan, AR Rahman and others will be sharing their experiences too.

The Oru Kuralaai concert is free for everyone and viewers can donate money to the struggling musicians by following the instructions displayed on the screen during the concert. The NGO will then collate the money and identify musicians who are in dire need of help.

Apart from the Facebook page of USCT, the concert can also be watched on the social media pages of singers GV Prakash and Anirudh Ravichander.
