Bollywood Choreographer Saroj Khan dies of Cardiac Arrest

Bollywood choreographer Saroj Khan died of a cardiac arrest late on Thursday night, reports said. She was 72. She was was admitted to Mumbai’s Guru Nanak Hospital on 17th June after she complained of breathing difficulties. She had tested negative for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Saroj Khan was born as Nirmala Nagpal. She joined the Indian film industry as a child artiste, playing the younger Shyama in Nazarana. She eventually became a background dancer in 1950s films like Bimal Roy’s Madhumati under the guidance of dance director B. Sohanlal.

The last rites of Saroj Khan will be peformed at Malvani in Malad on Friday. She is survived by her husband, son Hamid Khan and two daughters.
